In a new study researchers measured the kidney function of 315 healthy normal-weight adults and their waist-to-hip ratios. The result was that healthy adults with an apple-shaped body-belly fat and higher waist-to-hip ratios had lower kidney function, lower kidney blood flow and higher blood pressure in the kidneys. A theory that belly fat may trigger insulin resistance and low-grade inflammation, which may lead to kidney disease. If you have an apple-shaped body maybe you should ask your doctor to monitor your kidney functioning and suggest treatment is needed.
